Director
Director, Madelize Bekker, is an independent consultant with an extensive background in the areas of teaching, flexible and e-learning, instructional design, and project management.
She designs and facilitates internationally recognised training courses for teacher training, team building and professional development sessions. She also works alongside subject matter experts advising on matters of design, layout and quality of courses to be delivered in a traditional classroom setting or in a blended / virtual environment. Her contributions include work on the following books, courses and resources: IELTS Test Success!, Picture Dictionary, China Starter, Vital Beginner (Junior High School), Business in a Box and English for Information Technology.
Prior to moving into a role of consultancy, Madelize was the Learning Design Manager for Vital English where she managed the design and development of various ELT (English Language Teaching) products for blended delivery on behalf of Vital English, Intuto and Wintec. Her wide ranging experience involves teaching at primary, secondary and tertiary level in South Africa and New Zealand. This includes four years of working as an academic staff member in Wintec’s School of English Language. Amongst other responsibilities, she coordinated the General English program and started the Curriculum Factory team. Her international experience include countries like China, India, South Africa and Australia.
Madelize obtained a Bachelor of Arts (English, Psychology) from the University of the Free State in South Africa (1987); a Cambridge Certificate in Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) from Languages International in Auckland (2001); a Postgraduate Diploma in Second Language Teaching (2004) and a Postgraduate Certificate in eEducation (2005) from The University of Waikato; and at the beginning of 2006 she commenced a Master of Arts (Applied Linguistics) at Victoria University of Wellington. Her interests lie in the area of facilitation and training with a focus on second language acquisition, flexible learning and instructional design.
